Manga Story
Morning light crept through the curtains and brushed across my face. I groaned softly and rolled onto my back, staring at the ceiling. My room was quiet except for the faint hum of my computer. “…Huh?” I rubbed my eyes and sat up in bed, my hair messy from sleep. Something felt different. My mind slowly began to wake up. “What even happened yesterday…?” I leaned forward with my elbows on my knees, trying to piece things together. Then it hit me. The restaurant. The conversation. Her. I could still remember the way the evening felt — calm, easy… surprisingly nice. “Being with her was actually… really nice.” I scratched the back of my head, staring at the floor. Then my eyes widened slightly. “Wait…” I froze. “I never got her number.” A quiet sigh escaped me as I leaned back on the bed. “Well… that’s just great.” The rest of the day passed slowly. Before long I found myself sitting at my desk, controller in hand, playing games like usual. The glow of the monitor lit up the room while the hours quietly slipped by. Match after match. Win, lose, repeat. Eventually I got hungry. I wandered into the kitchen, grabbing something quick to eat before heading back to my room. Later in the afternoon I went out to the gym, lifting weights and trying to clear my mind. Music played in my headphones while the rhythm of reps and sets helped pass the time. Still… every now and then my thoughts drifted back to yesterday. Her smile. Her voice. It was strange. We had only just met… but the memory kept replaying in my head. After the gym I headed home again, tossing my bag onto the floor of my room and collapsing into my chair. “Man…” I stretched my arms. “What are the chances I ever see her again?” Memories of her pop up. Right as I picked up my phone— Buzz. A notification lit up the screen. I frowned slightly and picked it up. Then my eyes widened. It was a message. And somehow… It was from her. My heart skipped. “…Wait.” I stared at the screen again to make sure I wasn’t imagining it. A slow smile spread across my face. “…I guess I am seeing her again."
