Manga Story
Manga Script: The Sunflower and the Shield Act 1: The Morning of Oakhaven Page 1: A wide, cinematic shot of Oakhaven. Slate roofs, smoking chimneys, and the sun just breaking over the horizon. Page 2: The busy market square. Carts, horses, and merchants shouting. In the center, a blur of movement—Destiny winding through the crowd. Page 3: Full-body shot of Destiny. She’s skipping, her purple pinafore flaring. Focus on the white streak in her hair and her sparkling brown eyes. Page 4: Close-up of Destiny’s face. She’s admiring wool and sweet rolls. SFX: "Sparkle/Doki-Doki" Page 5: A large, dark shadow looms behind her. A speech bubble with a heavy "Sigh..." enters the frame. Page 6: Reveal Gordan. He’s scowling, looking older than his years, with his massive woven basket. Panels show the height difference—he’s clearly taller. Act 2: Duty vs. Delight Page 7: Gordan grumbling. "We aren't here for sweet rolls, Destiny." He’s checking a mental list. Close-up of his golden-brown eyes looking serious. Page 8: Destiny spins around him. "You worry too much!" She pats his rough tan sleeve. The background is full of light; his is full of rain-cloud crosshatching. Page 9: A "Danger" panel. A horse-drawn cart splashes toward a puddle. Gordan’s eyes narrow. Page 10: Action panel. Gordan swiftly steps between Destiny and the puddle. The mud splashes his boots, but her white apron stays pristine. He doesn't even mention it. Page 11: Gordan lecturing her about "Practicality" while Destiny looks at a bird. He looks like a little old man in a six-year-old’s body. Act 3: The Discovery Page 12: Suddenly, Destiny stops. The "hummingbird" goes still. A wide-eyed close-up. Page 13: POV shot looking between dirty wooden crates. A tiny, shivering puppy stares back with big, wet eyes. Page 14: Destiny drops to her knees on the dirty cobblestones. Gordan is instantly there, hand on her shoulder. "Don't touch it! Fleas!" Page 15: Destiny’s "Ultimate Attack"—the pleading gaze. Gordan tries to look away, but he’s weakening. Act 4: The Softening Shield Page 16: A three-panel sequence of Gordan’s face: 1. Scowl. 2. Annoyance. 3. Defeat. SFX: "Haaaaah..." (Long sigh) Page 17: Gordan unslings the basket. "Fine. But he rides in here." He looks grumpy, but his hands are gentle as he sets the basket down. Page 18: Destiny scoops the puppy up and hugs Gordan’s arm. "Sweetest brother!" Gordan’s face goes bright pink. "I am NOT sweet!" Page 19: The final shot. The two walk away into the market. The puppy’s head is peeking out of the basket next to Gordan’s ear. Destiny is holding his hand, and even though he's grumbling, he isn't pulling away. Art Style Notes Visual Contrast: Use clean, light lines for Destiny’s panels to emphasize her "sunshine" nature. For Gordan’s panels, use slightly heavier line weights and "grumpy" crosshatching to show his protective, serious demeaner.
